Help for Step Tomo on iPhone and Apple Watch
Email us at hello@foggoapps.com. A real person (the developer) reads every message, usually within two working days.
It helps to include your iPhone and Apple Watch models, their iOS and watchOS versions, your pet's species and level, and a screenshot if something looks wrong. You can also email us from inside the app: Pet → Settings (gear) → Contact.
Email supportYour first egg hatches during setup: take a short walk of 25 steps with your phone and watch it crack. (No motion access, or sitting down? After a minute you can tap it 10 times instead.) Who's inside is a surprise until it hatches.
Later eggs cost 2,000 coins (Pet tab → Get a new egg), and you pick which species you'd like. A new egg hatches after you walk 2,000 steps on 3 days, and Today shows how close it is. Every egg has a 1 in 64 chance to hatch shiny.
Every step is 1 XP. Your pet levels up as XP adds up, evolves into its second form at level 5 and its final form at level 12. The Pet tab shows the evolution track, lifetime steps together and your pet's traits.
Your pet's mood follows your day. If your steps are behind the pace you'd need to reach your goal by bedtime, it gets peckish. Walk a little and it's fed; hit your goal and it has a full belly. It sleeps at night. Hungry nudges can be turned off in Settings → Notifications.
Yes. Pet tab → Get a new egg lets you pick a Sprig, Kindle, Trundle, Puff or Scout egg for 2,000 coins and adds it to your home. Walk to warm it until it hatches. You can switch between pets in the Pet tab; the active pet is the one that walks with you.
You earn 1 coin for every 100 steps, and more by selling the things your pet finds on walks. Spend them on new eggs and on hats in the Shop. Optional coin packs ($0.99, $2.99, $6.99 and $14.99, US prices) are also available. Coins have no cash value.
Apple Health doesn't tell apps whether you declined access, so if the prompt never appeared, use the steps above.
Step Tomo reads Apple Health, which merges your iPhone and Apple Watch without double counting. Between Health updates, it adds live steps from your iPhone's motion sensor, and if your watch is ahead, it uses the watch's count. Apps that read only one device, or refresh at different times, can show slightly different numbers. They usually agree within a few minutes.
No. Health data is read and used on your iPhone and Apple Watch only. It's never sent to us, never used for ads and never sold. See the Privacy Policy.
It installs automatically if "Automatic App Install" is on in the Watch app on your iPhone. Otherwise open the Watch app → My Watch, scroll to Available Apps and tap Install next to Step Tomo. It needs watchOS 11 or later.
Touch and hold your watch face, tap Edit, swipe to Complications, tap a slot and choose Step Tomo. There are circular, rectangular, corner and inline styles. You'll also find a Step Tomo card in the Smart Stack (turn the Digital Crown on the watch face).
Your pet lives on your iPhone and is sent to the watch when both are nearby and unlocked. Open Step Tomo on your iPhone, then on your watch. If it still looks stale, restart both devices.
Yes. When you finish a walk started on your watch, it's saved to Apple Health as a walking workout and counts toward your Activity rings. You'll be asked for permission the first time.
Tap Walk, choose Just walk, a time goal or a step goal, and head out. Your pet walks with you through a Japanese countryside that scrolls at your pace, and may find collectibles along the way. The summary shows your time, steps, distance, XP and finds.
The map only appears if you turned on Record my route before starting and allowed location access "While Using the App". The route stays on your iPhone. Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Step Tomo.
Yes. With AirPods or Beats that support head tracking, Step Tomo can use their motion to follow your pace during a walk, which keeps the pet in step even when your phone is in a bag.
Step Tomo Premium starts with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers, then costs $12.99 per year or $3.99 per month (US prices; local prices are shown in the app). Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. There's also a one-time Lifetime purchase for $24.99. After the 7 free days, Premium is needed to keep walking with your pet. Full details are in the Terms of Use.
On your iPhone open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Step Tomo and tap Cancel Subscription, or visit apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or period ends to avoid the next charge. Premium stays on until the end of the time you've paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Step Tomo, then Pet → Settings → Restore purchases (or tap Restore on the Premium screen). Subscriptions and Lifetime restore; coin packs are consumable and are used when delivered, so they don't restore.
Close Step Tomo completely and open it again; unfinished purchases are delivered at launch. If it's still missing, email us with the date of the purchase (you can find it in your Apple purchase history) and we'll sort it out.
Apple processes every App Store purchase, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Sign in, find the Step Tomo purchase, choose "Request a refund" and pick a reason.
Use the unsubscribe link in any email. To have your email and name deleted from our list, write to hello@foggoapps.com from that address. Turning off Email updates in the app only removes it from your phone.
No sign-in is needed. Your pets, coins, items and walk summaries are backed up to your Step Tomo profile (an anonymous ID, no password), so a reinstall brings them back; your Health data and walk routes stay on your devices. To have your backup deleted, email hello@foggoapps.com. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Friends, shared parks and leaderboards are in the works. Today the Friends tab shows a preview with sample friends. Sign up for Email updates in Settings to hear when they're ready.
